If you are planning a New Year’s Eve party, there are tons of things to consider, including your theme, the guest list, and the type of champagne to serve. But, as with any occasion, you don’t want to forget the dessert. For a delicious start to 2015, celebrate New Year’s with desserts inspired by Hickory Farms ingredients and these delicious recipes.
Orange and Ginger Cheesecake Ball
For a sweet twist on chips and dips, try this decadent dessert-style cheesecake ball. Start by mixing together a package of cream cheese with a bit of butter, some powdered sugar, and both the zest and the juice of a Mandarin Orange from our Orchard’s Bounty Gift Basket. Finish by adding a handful of chopped crystallized ginger.
Form the mixture into a ball and chill overnight. Before you serve, top the cheesecake ball with toasted coconut and arrange it on a platter surrounded by pieces of pound cake and slices of Fuji Apples and Crown Comice Pears from the basket.
If you are looking for a truly traditional dessert, consider a New Year’s Log Cake. To make the cake, beat egg whites until frothy before adding sugar, vanilla, and ground nuts from our Grand Nut Party Assortment Tin. Complete the batter with flour, nutmeg, and cinnamon before baking.
After removing the cake from the pan, top with a mixture of whipped cream, sugar, and amaretto, then roll up the cake and finish with more nuts.
For another great way to use our mixed nuts, try a Chocolate Puff. Start by mixing the filling by combining cream cheese with sugar, chocolate-hazelnut spread, our chopped nuts, and whipped cream.
Next, build the puffs by mixing sugar, flour, and cocoa powder into water, melted butter, and salt. Bake the puffs, then scoop out the soft dough inside and replace the dough with your chocolate cream.
With these decadent New Year’s Eve treats, your guests will start 2015 with a satisfied sweet tooth. For help with all of your party snacks, check out the great selection at Hickory Farms.
