4 Patriotic Ways to Celebrate Memorial Day

Hickory Farms has long been a supporter of our country’s military forces, and we want to join our fellow Americans in honoring our fallen heroes on Memorial Day. Some of the best ways to celebrate this holiday and kick off the summer season include: Attending a patriotic parade. Kids always love the excitement of seeing a marching band and soldiers in a parade, but take the time to explain their significance so they can understand the sacrifices made by our brave men and women in uniform. Have a family picnic. After the parade has passed, take your family on a picnic. Our signature Beef Summer Sausage and a variety of cheeses from our Savory Cheese Collection make delicious appetizers atop our Olive Oil & Rosemary Crackers. “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” - Henry Adams Hickory Farms would like to acknowledge the enormous contribution teachers make toAmerica’s youths. They are the too-often unsung heroes in the trenches, playing multiple roles as counselors, healers, coaches and substitute parents. They often work long hours putting lesson plans together to ensure our students are receiving the best education possible. Rather than simply placing fruit on a platter, you can transform your fruit display into a fun decorative item that matches the shower’s theme. Add a truly unique design to your baby shower buffet with these fun ideas. Why put fruit in an ordinary bowl when you can serve it in a baby fruit carriage? Starting with a watermelon, cut off most of the top half of the melon, leaving a small overhang that looks like the hood of the carriage. Then, scoop out the watermelon, leaving a light pink coating. Afterwards, finish the carriage with four wheels made of orange slices. Inside, transform a peeled cantaloupe into an adorable baby’s face, using blueberries or grapes for eyes, a melon ball for a nose and placing a pacifier where the lips should go. Put the face at the top of the watermelon carriage and fill the rest with an assortment of your favorite fruits. Cute animal designs are always a great option for baby showers You can make a fun fruit frog by topping half an apple with two marshmallows for eyes and a …
